Staple foods

More and more countries throughout the world are fortifying staple foods such as milk powder, edible fats, rice, edible oils, sugar, salt and flour in order to ensure an adequate supply of micronutrients to the whole population and combat deficiency diseases. Trace elements including fluorine and iodine are often added too, for example as iodized salt.
