VEGAN DIET: FORTIFIED FOODS PREVENT NUTRIENT DEFICITS
We offer micronutrient premixes that enhance the nutrient profile of plant-based products.
Vegans refrain from eating any animal products in order to live more healthily and make a positive contribution to animals and the environment. The intake of micronutrients that are mainly to be found in meat, fish, milk and eggs is lower in the case of a vegan than a normal mixed diet. A vegan diet can, therefore, lead to a micronutrient deficiency. For that reason many vegan products are fortified with micronutrients.
For instance, in the beverages segment, dairy substitutes fortified with the vitamins D and B12 offer a high level of success potential. Snacks and cereals can be fortified very easily, too. Meat substitutes are yet another on-trend segment. Thanks to our extensive cooperation with our sister company Planteneers, which is very active on the market for plant-based alternatives to meat and dairy products, we have robust knowledge in this segment.
With SternVEGA we have developed a premix concept specifically for the fortification of vegan foods. It contains nine micronutrients which can be individually combined depending on the product requirements and which enhance the micronutrient profile of vegan products.
We give vegan products added health value
Milk and dairy products contain a series of essential nutrients – in particular calcium and the vitamins B2 and B12. With our SternVEGA premix concept, a nutrient level can be obtained in plant-based alternatives too, which is comparable to that of cow’s milk.
