Food aid
WE ARE YOUR PARTNER IN THE FIGHT AGAINST MALNUTRITION
In many developing countries the population suffers from acute malnutrition. We offer high-quality and fundable vitamin and mineral mixes for food aid.
According to the Global Nutrition Report 2018 more than 150 million children around the globe suffer from non-age-appropriate (too small) body size (stunting). Over 50 million children have a body weight that is too low compared to their size (wasting). The reason for this is undernourishment and malnutrition in early childhood. Humanitarian organisations such as UNICEF, the World Food Programme and many other agencies resort to specially formulated foods in order to combat these deficiencies.
We supply micronutrients with the right quality and stability for these products and help producers to meet the strict requirements of UNICEF, WFP and other agencies. Our micronutrient premixes are suitable, for instance, for SuperCereal (corn-soy blend), ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF), ready-to-use supplementary food (RUSF) and micronutrient powders (MNPs). In addition, we develop other individual mixes geared to the needs of individual countries and regions.
The development of premixes for ready-to-use foods is dependent on particularly in-depth experience as, for instance, the flavour of the end product must not be impacted. Only if the food is accepted, will this lead in the end to adequate nutrient supply. Our developers possess this experience and will support you on the pathway to the final product.
FORTIFICATION OF STAPLE FOODS
We have many years‘ experience in the fortification of staple foods
The undersupply of minerals and vitamins is also referred to as “hidden hunger”. The most widespread undersupply concerns iron, iodine, zinc and vitamin A. That’s why many countries resort to the mandatory fortification of staple foods such as flour in order to ensure adequate nutrient intake. You are a supplier of staple foods and would like to fortify your products? We offer you customised premixes.
